Everything You’ve Wondered About Dentistry and Dental Treatments
Dentistry involves the maintenance of oral hygiene and health, diagnosis, treatment planning and all the stages necessary to achieve definite results. Function, phonation (speaking) and aesthetics comprise the entirety of oral health. Once diagnosis has been made with the aid of x-rays, the patient is directed to dental departments such as dental stone cleaning, restoration with prosthetics, fillings, root canal treatment, orthodonty or surgery according to their needs. White (dental) and pink (gum) aesthetics are evaluated together.
It is thus necessary to brush both the teeth and gums. To do so, brush in a circular motion where the the teeth exit the gums. Continue with this circular motion for all the teeth the toothbrush can reach. Remember to brush not only the front of the teeth but the back of them, too. Use dental floss for the areas in between the teeth and which toothbrushes cannot reach.
The time it takes to get the smile you’ve always wanted can take just a few sessions depending on your preferences and problems, though more comprehensive restorations can take a significant period of time. Problems such as cavities, yellowing, differing tooth sizes and gum problems can be solved in just a few sessions.
Some aesthetic problems cannot be treated with only fillings. In such cases, metal based or non-metal based (empress, inceram, zirconia) crowns can be fitted. Sometimes laminates are used to solve aesthetic problems by etching away a fine amount of the enamel and then placing a veneer. A new smile can also be obtained for patients with gappy teeth (diastema) with special aesthetic filler materials.
One of the lastest aesthetic dentistry applications is fully ceramic crowns, which are preferred for teeth that are cracked, broken or have suffered a major loss of dental material. Ceramics are able to mimic the transparency of teeth and are thus the most preferred material to abotain a natural and aesthetic look.
