Electrolysis hair removal is a permanent hair removal method that requires a meticulous hand as it involves very fine needles being inserted into the hair follicles which are then destroyed with very low electrical currents. When successful, the hairs are easily pulled out and removed. Redness, puffiness and sometimes small scabbing which lasts for 1-2 days occurs.
The number of sessions required depends on the hair’s growth time, structure, colour and amount.
The sterile needles used have to be unique to the patient. The needles are held in parallel, inserted into the hair follicle and an electrical current is passed through them. The current is stopped before the needles are removed and if the treatment has destroyed the hair follicle the hair will easily come out. Light puffiness or redness may be seen in the treated area, and this is quite normal.
The possibility of getting a 100% result straightaway is low as every hair may not be in the hair production stage of its growth cycle and those that are are easily removed. Electrolysis hair removal cannot be performed on patients with widespread varicose veins, pacemakers, diabetes, those who have skin diseases such as vitiligo, psoriasis or, köbnerizastyon, have infectious diseases such as AIDS or syphilis, histories of cancer or who are pregnant.
